More Sneaker Collaborations = YSL + Puma

It looks like all the fashion power houses are trying to break into the sneaker world these days!!! Just last week we discussed, post, Kanye West teaming up with Louis Vuitton for a new sneaker and now Yves Saint Laurent is teaming up with Puma to create a fashion forward sneaker as well. In black leather and in grey suede, the sneakers are available in YSL boutiques worldwide and only available online in the US.

Um....if you ask me all these sneakers are starting to look alike...I'm just saying. Let the battle of the designer sneakers begin!!!

When Wearing White

Fashion has a funny way of making a million and one rules......and one of those happens to be no white after Labor Day and before Easter. Some say you can definitely wear white after Labor Day while others would rather be caught in leopard pants and a zebra print shirt instead.......yes it's that serious!!! A rule that definitely couldn't be broken years ago, or you would be heavily condemned, is seriously being broken as of late!!!! I make my own rules and I don't see the harm in rocking white after Labor day as long as it's weather appropriate. But by no means would I want anyone to rock white shoes....definitely my fashion pet peeve!!! The great thing about white pieces is that they practically look fabulous with every color. So for those of you who refuse to wear white before Easter...break out your white goodies and let the white Fabulousness begin!!!

So was Ciara reading my mind or was she reading Fashion Fiend......I'm just saying....I wish!! Anyway, she was spotted a couple of days ago at the Nylon Magazine anniversary party looking pretty fabulous in a look real similar to the one I created a few weeks ago!!! The base of the look was a 3.1 Phillip Lim layered ruffle-mix sweater skirt and a black leather jacket to top it off......and I LOVE IT!!!

Kanye West + Nike= Nike Air Yeezy

Wow...so not only is Kanye West teaming up with Louis Vuitton for his own sneaker collection but he has apparently teamed up with Nike as well. I'm so far from a sneaker head but for some reason this kind of excites me.....weird right? Kanye dropped his Zen Grey-LT Charcoal color Nike Air Yeezy in a store near you this past weekend for $215 and the real sneaker heads went crazy.....more like insane.... standing in lines for days!!!! They are only a fraction of the price of his LV sneakers debuting in June and a completely different style..... and might I add so FRESH, can't believe I just said that. Anyway, if you missed the first pair, because they are sold out, he's releasing the Black-Black version in May, and the final Net-Net color in June. Kanye is definitely known as Fashion Fiend who sets the pace for many....... and I am loving his creative spirit and his "it's my world" mind set!!!!

Trend Fiend: Denim Jackets

Remember back in the 80's and early 90's when you use to wear your denim jacket all the time with everything? I decorated mine with my name in glitter and rhinestones...yes I was a fashionista way back then!!! Well my dearest Fashion Fiends the denim jacket is trying to make a come back. Celebs like Kanye and Rihanna have been rocking them and I've been seeing them everywhere in the stores. I'm honestly not sure if I will be rocking this trend but it definitely could be a good look. When paired with a printed or bold color maxi dress, a white tube dress, or a white v-neck and black leggings.... this trend can definitely look casual but chic and fabulous. Opt for a fitted jacket as it looks best and is more feminine. Please...I repeat....Please do not wear the denim jacket with matching denim pants. Let's just leave somethings in the past!!!

Christian Siriano for Victoria Secret & Payless

My favorite Project Runway winner is about to take the fashion world by storm!!! The fabulous and oh so fierce Christian Siriano is teaming up with Victoria Secret Beauty and creating his own cosmetic line; and with Payless Shoe Source to create an affordable collection of accessories and foot wear...he is definitely about to feed it to all the fiends!!!

Inspired by shades from his fall clothing collection, his Victoria Secret Make up line will debut in August. The collection will include lip gloss shades, eyeliner, a bronzer-highlighter trio, and a face brush. All $32 and under!!! I'm far from a makeup guru but I will be the first to tell you a fresh face can definitely make or break you...I definitely think I'll be trying a gloss or two or four.

Also debuting around August is Christian's shoe and accessories collection for Payless. Now this should be interesting....Ranging from $25-$45, the Egyptian and hieroglyphics inspired collection will be all about embellished bags and towering heels, my fav. Hmmm......it's no secret but Payless has never really been on many Fashionistas must have list but I definitely can respect the idea, offering something fabulous at an affordable price. I will be waiting to see what this collection looks like. In the mean time.... You better get it Mr. Siriano...FIERCE!!!!

This Week In Fashion

Wow have I been M.I.A or what!?!?! Sorry fiends so much has been going on in my world but I'm back and I promise to never leave you for this long again......and oh how I've missed you!!! While I was away there has been so much going on in the fashion world and I'm so eager to share!! Rihanna has been around the globe and back looking fabulous, Michelle Obama is killing them fabulously and softly in Europe, retail stock has risen 4.3%, and Topshop has opened in NYC...yes my darlings a star is born!!

So let's talk about Topshop for a second... If you frequently visit Fashion Fiend then you are definitely aware that I almost always use Topshop pieces in my post. I've been anxiously awaiting the stores arrival since last fall, but my wait is now over. Once only available online to Americans, the fabulously fierce store, who's flagship store is in London, has opened a store in NYC.... right in SOHO and I'm on cloud nine!! Topshop is youthful, edgy and definitely on trend point. Owned by the Arcadia group, Topshop holds the worlds largest store in London and has stores in over 100 countries. They offer clothing and accessories for men and women and let me add the shoes are nothing short of fabulous. Their prices are a little higher than H&M, starting from $80 and up; but trust me when I tell you it's worth every penny. I'm kind of jealous about the store opening and all of Topshop's goodies being available to the masses, but I guess that's just the retail world. I haven't been to the store yet but I'll be going soon to break my non-existing bank!!! In other Fashion News.....Our girl Rihanna is on a fashion tour. She's been parading around looking uber fabulous and fashion forward. Gotta love this chick's style game. She knows her style and definitely feeds it to the fiends on a daily basis. As I said before, I don't know if I'm feeling her hair but I'm definitely feeling how she compliments each outfit with the current "it" girl shoe...Christian Louboutins better known on Fashion Fiend as Loubs....

While Topshop thought they would bring a taste of London to the U.S., Michelle Obama decided to show Europe how fabulous we really are in the "A" a.k.a America. Our first lady has been fabulously showing up and out, while our President is handling our business. Her style is so sick and full of sophistication....she leaves me speechless everytime. I really don't think they knew what they were in for in Europe. The Obamas are in town and everything is looking up...even the economy...Gotta love it in every way!!!

I've already told you, post, I am seeing snakeskin galore, but I am now spotting a lot of pieces that are a peach-coral color and I'm in love!!! Screams Spring and can take you right into Summer...

Athletes and celebrities are all trying to be the ultimate entrepreneur these days.... perfumes, clothing lines, shoes and the list goes on. Serena Williams is not exactly someone who serves the fashion world with fabulousness like she does the tennis court; but that isn't stopping her from launching her own line. On April 30th the tennis star will debut her clothing and accessories collection on HSN, called Signature Statement . Ranging from $30 to $100, the collection will include jewelry, handbags, and knitwear. Serena says "One of my dreams has always been to share gorgeous gifts of fashion and luxury with the world".

Trend Fiend: Harem Pants

I remember first seeing the harem pants summer of 2007...I had a few pair.....but it seems like the fashion world is really starting to embrace them.....and it's about time!!! Every reputable fashion source is claiming them as the must have trend for the spring...and thus the masses are in a frenzy. Some might say they are a bit too trendy, but I'm a fan of the look because it's so fabulously edgy!!! The harem pants looks like perfection when worn with towering heels and a simple top. I definitely recommend NOT rocking them with a ruffle top or any other top that's to busy...to much is not always good. Let the pants do all the talking and simply accessorize like I know you know how!!!

Fashion Market Watch: American Apparel 4th Quarter Sales Are Up

The media and our pockets won't let us forget that we are in one of the worst financial crisis of our lifetime. Despite numerous businesses cutting back on employment, and closing stores, there are a mere few that are still booming. Last month we discussed how Gucci is surviving in this economy, post, and it appears American Apparel is in the same league. American Apparel, Inc. has reported a fourth quarter net sales of $145.6 million, a 31% increase for the quarter alone compared to 2007. Their net sales for the year of 2008 were $545.1 million, a 40.8% increase from 2007. It's the survival of the fittest and American Apparel seems to be on top!!!

In these hard times we all are being more responsible when we shop, we want affordable quality, and it appears consumers are turning to American Apparel to find just that. It all makes perfect fashion sense. Amercan Apparel offers affordable quality clothing, and I personally know each piece can be worn more ways then one. It's all about reinventing what you already have!!! Most of their pieces are basics, but a blank canvas is all a Fashionista needs, and it doesn't hurt to also have an array of colors to choose from. You can expect to see an estimated 25 to 30 more American Apparel stores popping up around the country this year and possibly in a city near you.

I'm the girl that's all for getting dressed up and glamorous, but who doesn't love throwing on a pair of jeans to look just as fabulous. I talked about how far a great pair of jeans can take you in this post . It's always important to have a balance!!! Mix your jeans with some cute heels or flats, a white tee, and jewelry... remember the key to a fabulous casual look is your accessories. Celebrating 1000 Hits!!!

Fashion Fiend was born less than a month ago and she has already received over 1000 hits!!! How Fabulous is that!?!! I'm honored and privileged that so many of you have come to Fashion Fiend to explore the Fashionista in us all. I have discovered so much about myself through this blog and as it grows so do I. Following our passion in life is one of the most important gifts we can give ourselves. You only have one life to live so why not make it fabulous and live doing what you love. Thank you for your support and allowing me to share my thoughts with you. As long as I can dream, think, and breathe I'll be a Fashion Fiend.

You can now personalize the infamous Speedy 30 or the Keepall Bandoulière 55 bags. Um........I guess everyone is trying to be innovative during this recession.....gotta appreciate the effort. They are even giving the bag a special coating to keep your initials intact during the everyday wear and tear.

I was all over NYC today...uptown, midtown, east and west.... busy day.... and I definitely spotted a trend!!! I hit up a few of my favorite stores and what do you know...Snakeskin is everywhere...and boy do I love it!!!! I came across snakeskin booties, sandals, skirts, dresses, belts, and bags. I'll admit the dresses were edgy...but live on the wild side and dare to be different!! The snakeskin pattern is like a blank canvas because of it's neutral subdued colors. Most like to wear the pattern with black or brown, but I'm all about the colors baby!!! Snakeskin shoes and bags look fabulous with bright colors like yellow, blue, red, or purple...close your eyes and envision it...........I told you it was fabulous!!! You can also always throw on a bold color belt with your snakeskin print dress....trust me it's glamorous. One of Fashion Fiend's favorite fashionistas is covering the April issue of Vogue!!!! Gotta love Vogue for embracing women of color... it's only March and they've had two African American women as their "it" girls!!! Pure fabulousness at its best!!!! I am also loving them for the cover topics about fashion for all sizes and weight in general. If you know Vogue then you know their pages are normally filled with the smallest models around. To acknowledge weight issues and that fashion can be for the curvy girls too is beyond fabulous and definitely a step in the right direction in more ways then one. Thumbs up to Vogue!!! It happens to be one of my favorite magazines, so luckily I'll be getting my copy in the mail shortly!!!!

Hey Fiends!!! I hope all is fabulous in your world!!! Just a quick update on things in my world. Sorry I didn't update for a few days...I was spending time in Atlanta with my amazing boyfriend for his birthday!!! I almost didn't want to come back to NYC, but my dreams reside here so I definitely had to return to chase them. Since the debut of Fashion Fiend I've been getting some really great feedback and even a few great opportunities(I'll tell you more as they unfold). It's been less than a month, and I've already received almost 1000 hits..... YaY!!!! I'm so excited to have the opportunity to share my passion and ideas with all of my fellow fashion fiends. Starting this blog has definitely enhanced my creativity and it has become an outlet for the million fabulous things running around in my head. I'm so in love with this amazing art form and there are no words, even for me, to really describe my feelings. I just know this is for me....... Who is Amber Rose....

So this chick Amber Rose has been popping up all over the net and blogs and apparently she's Kanye's new boo. Who she dates doesn't concern me, but what she wears I definitely care about!! Known as a video vixen by the masses, appearing in Ludacris and Young Jeezy videos, she just popped up out of no where like your favorite shoe that's been missing for days!! The girl definitely has a style of her own that I will admit has gone from 0 to 100 thousand trillion (that was to easy). She's been seen at all the best fashion shows in NYC and Paris, the ones fashionistas only dream to attend.....hence my dream last night. Talk about overnight celebrity.....in a matter of weeks we've seen this Italian and Cape Verdean blondie go from "who?'' to "I thought you knew".........

Her style game seems to be edgy and flashy....I'm not in love but I'm definitely not in hate.... I mean do you see those Chanel Glasses and Louis Vuitton Shoes!!!! OMG!!! Anyway... I'll be watching to see how this goes!!!

Talk about fashion heart break!!! What was she thinking.... from the hair, the glasses, the lip stick, the jacket, and the shirt. I could have handled one of these fashion mishaps, but all of them...just to much. I'm guessing she is trying to re-invent herself but maybe she should have called me first. She is normally always simply fabulous, subdued in the latest and greatest must haves. I guess bad things do happen to fabulous people....

The media is all up in arms about Michelle Obama's bare arms. It seems that they try to find the most insignificant things to crucify people who are beyond flawless. Seriously, with arms like hers, who wouldn't want to flaunt them.....be for real. Last time I checked we live in a country where there is not only a law of freedom of speech but a law to fashionably be fabulous....yeah I just made that up. With the sophistication, class, poise, intelligence, and fabulousness Michelle O posses, I guess her bare arms are the only thing the media can fault her on....so shallow. I love that our first lady has a style of her own...and if Mr.President isn't complaining the media shouldn't be either!

As you know, here on Fashion Fiend I like to talk about all things glamorous and fabulous, and important things that influence fashion are definitely that. I just came across an advertisement for Samantha Thavasa hand bags with Beyonce and Solange as their celebrity models. I'll be the first to tell you that I wasn't in love with the bags, but the next thing that crossed my mind was..... will people buy these purely because of the celebrities used in the advertisement? Designers and companies often adorn our favorite celebrities in the latest trends and or products in advertisements for marketing campaigns or as simple walking advertisements just to influence our spending habits. I know the teenage market is heavily influenced by products endorsed by their favorite celebs; but what about young adults, do you rush to the store to grab the latest shoes or bags just because you see your favorite celebrity wearing or advertising it?

The unfortunate reality is we do.....Celebrities influence our every day spending especially when it comes to fashion. From shoes, bags, makeup, and even liquor, they act like they love it and then so do we. The perfect example is when the girls on Gossip Girl started wearing the head bands with the bow.....a trend was born and the masses went insane! One celebrity endorsing one brand or trend can turn into millions of dollars, for the company of course. Why is it that people are so easily influenced by celebrities? They want there entire style, when you should really want your own, and they practically mimic everything they do. Don't get me wrong I often get inspired by what a celebrity is wearing, but I will not spend my hard earned money, or lack there of, on an item I'm not interested in solely because of who's wearing it. Do advertisers and designers think we are that shallow...or are we?

Much like last Spring, this Spring is all about color. The Brighter the Better baby, but the ultimate It color is Yellow. Yellow was all over the runway and is currently all over our favorite stores. I personally know that yellow definitely doesn't work for everyone so look to other brights like pink, blue, and purple as well. Pair your brights with white, denim,and neutral colors like gold or tan and stay away from black, it's just to dull. You can pair brights with each other but do it generously. Like adding a bright belt, shoe, or bag to your bright dress. The goal is not to be a walking rainbow a.k.a a fashion wreck!!!lol

Fashion Foot Prints

In addition to floral prints from last Spring, leave your fashion foot prints in pastel prints as well as ethnic prints. These are the patterns to be seen in. Some are chic and feminine while others are bright and bold. Since prints are so busy opt for neutral or solid color accessories that will blend well. Try not to mix to many prints together at once... I would hate to see the outcome. I'm not a huge fan of prints but I'm sure this trend will definitely work for some.

Fashion Market Watch: Gucci To Outlast Recession

The French luxury and retail group PPR that owns Gucci Group, which includes the brands Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, Bottega Venata, Alexander McQueen, and Serigio Rossi, reported a 5.8% increase in sales for 2008 and 4.4% increase for the fourth quarter alone, mainly contributed by....you guessed it international activity. International sales made up 61% of PPR's activity for 2008, 21% from North America, and the star luxury brand that just about contributed to all of the companies success and staying power was Gucci . The Gucci brand is the largest of PPR's portfolio and continues to rank in the most revenue over the rest of the Gucci Group brands. PPR's revenue between October and December alone rose to $6.71 billion from a year ago, if that's not outlasting an economic crisis I don't know what is.

Gucci, founded in Florence in 1921, has obviously made it's mark in the fashion world, but there will always be critics. Fashion elitist are saying Gucci is only selling because of it's lower prices and it's availability to the masses. Once deemed a luxury power house, after saturating the market Gucci has struggled to reposition itself with the most luxurious high fashion brands. Gucci has changed it's target market and the old target isn't happy at all. It's a catch 22 though, do they keep their brand affordable to continue to have profitability; or do they reinvent themselves by increasing prices and product quality to re-establish their original namesake. It seems like PPR likes revenue in these struggling times, as they plan to open more Gucci stores this year and increase advertisement...Good idea right? Business wise yes!! Brand wise, maybe not.

The only people that are upset about Gucci's low prices and availability to the masses are those who can afford to pay $5,000 for a bag. I'm not complaining at all, but I do agree that the image of the brand continues to decline. In fashion we want to feel like what we have is exclusive and it's almost a sense of disappointment when you see everyone walking down 5Th ave. with the same bag or shoes. It definitely cheapens the image of the brand in my eyes. None the less PPR is enjoying making a profit is this horrible economy. I guess we will just have to wait and see if Gucci will ever re-establish itself among the high fashion houses in the future; but in the mean time they definitely are outlasting the recession and that's what matter most.

I first noticed her in 2001 when she appeared in Save the Last Dance but I really noticed how talented she was when she played Ray Charles' wife in the 2004 movie Ray. Thus a star was born!! She continues to strive to heighten her Hollywood success and has even began producing and writing movies as well. She has won numerous awards for her social activism and charity work.

Let the battle begin... The thought of writing about this very article has been on my mind for almost a year now. I've realized that many people misconstrue Fashion and Style to be the same when they couldn't be more wrong than wearing white shoes in the winter. To understand the difference is understand how to define your "Style" in this fabulous world of "Fashion".

Fashion is all about trend, the here and now, the right now. Although trends are destined to fade, every season new trends are introduced and Fashion reinvents itself fabulously. Most get so engulfed in Fashion trends they forget how to identify their individual style. Hence..... style is timeless, it defines who you are and can't be bought like Fashion. A woman with Style enjoys Fashion but doesn't let it define her wardrobe. I've discovered so many Fashionistas fill their closets with the latest Fashion trends, and when the thrill is gone, they have nothing left but empty pockets and a closet full of clothes that are no longer in Style. A woman with Style intelligently diversifies her wardrobe by not only buying the latest trends but also buying ageless pieces that only get better with time..... So when it's all said and done and the trends have passed, a woman with style will always have something left to wear. She wears the labels but they will never define her Style!!!

It's absolutely no new news that we are in a recession and one of the biggest economic crisis of our lifetime and now even designers realize the importance of Fashion vs. Style. After Fashion Week and losing my mind over all the trends that were ruling the runway, I realized that designers were not going as trendy as usual. They are trying to give Fashionistas more for their buck and offer pieces with feminine quality that can go beyond one season. Although our spending habits have probably changed, it would almost be a crime to think are fashion sense has as well......NOT!!! We may be broke but we definitely still want to be fabulous and that's why it's now more important than ever to understand and identify your personal style and not be defined by just trends.

The Red Carpet Award Goes To.... Oscars 2009

The 81st Academy Awards aired last night and it was all about old Hollywood glamour and I loved it!!!! I'll honestly admit that this isn't my favorite award show, just not enough entertainment, but I absolutely live for the red carpet!!! It's the prom of Hollywood!! As always starlets showed up and out and here are some of my favorites....

The detailing on Marisa Tomie's Atelier Versace dress is fabulously insane!!! The all around pleating is to live for....she was definitely my surprise for the night and I can always appreciate a good surprise!

BET recognizes up and coming and trailblazing African American designers, stylist, and models all to the sounds of the latest and hottest music artist. It was a fabulous event and yours truly had all the access....

The entertainment was great while the fashion was just OK. I wasn't in love, nor did I absolutely hate what came down the runway, but I always can appreciate the efforts and hard work of every designer, as I personally know how much work goes into creating something you love and hope everyone else will too. I loved the swim suit collection, as it was fabulously designed and added some chicness to tiny pieces of cloth!!! Love it!!! I may be bias but my absolute favorite part was called Fashionista Recessionista...The name fabulously speaks for it's self!!! My fashion fairy God Mother June Ambrose, I Absolutely Love Her...No Seriously, and a few up and coming stylist, mixed high end with low end, I live by this rule, to create budget conscious fabulous ensembles all under $200!!! Gotta Love it!!!

So.. I gave up my VIP seats to stand with the crowd, luckily I had on my Steve Madden boots they didn't hurt a bit, to get all my fiends a great view of the show!!! You love me I know!!! June and Joy....check June shoes.....she told me they were seven inches... Gotta love her!! Definitely love her dress as well!!!! Joy's fitted leather pants are sick...I was confused about that top though...just wasn't fabulous enough

Cast of Harlem Heights... A new reality show about four girls and guys following their dreams in NYC, the story of us all. June Ambrose is the stylist so I'll definitely be watching!! Coming to BET in March!

Joy Bryant and Derek Luke....Derek announced he's introducing his own line, join the celebrity club, The shirt he's wearing is part of the collection...I got one!!!Can't wait to see how that unfolds...

Korto and I, finalist from Project Runway Season 5, showed her collection and I liked it!!!! She was definitely my choice to win the show that season.....and I'm still trying to figure out what happened.......um......anyway, she was a sweet heart!!!

OOH...That's just yours truly and my bff CME...thanks girl for your production skills!!

All and all it was a Fabulous event, lots of fun, filled with Fashion Fiends and you know your girl was networking like crazy!! After the show we hit the after party and after the after party.... I went home and went to bed!!! HA

Fashionistas Who Lunch

We've been going crazy, and I do mean crazy, here on the East coast over New York Fashion Week, the craziness will continue after this brief intermission.... While on the other end of the country some of our favorite fashionistas showed up and showed out at the 2ND annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon. Essence has gathered some of the most successful and fabulous women of color to acknowledge their success and contributions to Hollywood.... and I love it!!! I take my Louboutin off to ESSENCE, for always thinking about us!!! While I will leave the luncheon to them, I will acknowledge just how fabulous some of the attendees were....

UPDATE Fashion Week 09... Saving the Best for Last Perhaps?

So let me be honest, I have been heavily engulfed in Fashion Week since my return from Phoenix, what else is to be expected,even more honest... while I was in Phoenix, and I was getting a little worried. I saw some looks that I liked even fewer looks that had me in love. But my Fashion Fairy God Mother has heard my cry and she is definitely starting to deliver Fiends!!!! I started to think my expectations were to high, but I had to remind myself in fashion expectations can never be to high...there is no limit!!! I want spoil it with all my verbiage, so just check it out below...

Michael Kors Ready to Wear

...... Is just that READY TO WEAR!!! I've never been a huge fan of Michael's clothing collections, love his shoes, but this go around his well structured pieces caught the beat of my heart. He proves that he understands a woman's body and has created a line for everyday Fashionistas and not just starlets.... I love his use of calm colors and a splash of bright neon...who can't appreciate that.... HOT !!! The way he updates traditional fabrics is genius!! I guess judging Project Runway may be doing MK some good!!! I didn't love the entire collection, I mean that would be to good to be true...wouldn't it??? Oh and the shoes = FAB!!!

Oscar De La Renta Ready to Wear

.......Almost always delivers...and on time!!! What can you say when it comes to a legend like him, recession or not he brings the rich fabrics and glamorous evening gowns....pure luxury. Revisiting the 70's, he stays true to his design and there isn't much more you can say besides GLAMOROUS!!! This collection has Michelle Obama's name all over it...Yes She Can!!

The Show Must Go On.......Fashion Week Fall 09

Needless to say Fashion Week is pretty much what every Fashion Fiend lives for!!! All of fashions elite designers and models, as well as up and comings..gather at Bryant Park under the white tents to make a statement and introduce the trends they believe every fashionista should be drenched in and live for next season!!! Dramatically down sized by the recession, some of our favorite and most acclaimed designers failed to show up...on the run way that is. I'm sure they will be somewhere in our favorite department stores next season, hopeful that they outlive these economic times. The recession couldn't stop some designers, they either downsized their collections or productions, or played it safe by not being as edgy or trendier versus the past...and the results definitely and in some case unfortunately made a difference...

My Trend Report: So you ask your favorite fiend what should you be wearing come Fall 2009??

The mood will be warm, dark, and settle with colors like black, gold, tan, navy, burgundy, and a little green. Lots of Lace, Fur, Leather, Layers, Draping, Plaid, and Head Wear. Look to wear pieces with a fun play on shapes added to the shoulders, better known as the built out shoulder, (think Beyonce) and on simple tops and skirts, as well as Flapper dresses inspired by the late 1920's. OOH and 80's babies reign again, yes, but think a little more fitted than back in the day. There are a few more time periods thrown into fall fashion, like Victorian, and Grecian. Fall Fashion is all about working with what you have and reinventing fashion.

Herve Leger by Max Azria Ready to Wear

.....Offered nothing different from the past besides a darker pallet and little play on shape. I was desperately hoping to not see any bandage detail of any kind but needless to say I was disappointed. I guess we will definitely be seeing more bandage madness from our favorite starlets on the red carpet.

Derek Lam Ready to Wear

.....Almost had my heart at hello!!! This collection was everything it inspired to be but just was missing a little edge. Lam Created a fabulous collection by pairing leathers with furs, love it, and the perfect colors with the right textures and patterns. He created a collection that made sure any budget cautious fashionista wouldn't mind dropping a dime.

Jason Wu Ready to Wear

......Says he was inspired by fairy tales and that is just what his road to stardom is, a fairy tale. Put on the fashion map by our fashion fab First Lady Michelle O., Mr. Wu kept it sophisticated and stayed true to his design method. I wasn't crazy about his collection but I love to see Young designers shine!!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Ready to Wear

....Was everything I wasn't expecting. Normally a designer that steals my young heart, Marc let me down. His collection was inspired by the late eighties and reminded me of a fabulous girl going mountain climbing. The collection paired knits, plaids, strips wools and patterned leggings that all will probably be a bit more fab as pieces rather than paired. A girl is sure to stay warm in this collection if nothing else. He also had a few dresses that played on lace and Victorian detail. I still love Marc none the less and he will always have my heart before he even says hello...

Dennis Basso Ready to Wear

........ Didn't let the recession stop him, he showed up and showed out!!! Who cares what was underneath the FURS on the runway, they are definitely something to live for and live in! I bet you Peta is having a meeting as I type. The detailing on these sleek, chic, sophisticated garbs are insane. I need one of these coats, but I probably will not be getting one any time soon..maybe I'll start a get Chloe-a-Dennis-Basso-Fur-Fund... No seriously

Tracy Reese Ready to Wear

.....Wasn't a cohesive collection at all. Reese's collection was obviously inspired by a catholic school girl but definitely fell short of making a statement. She played with floral prints, knee socks, leather gloves, and knits. She was another designer who's collection would probably work better as pieces than as whole, all can say is.....at least she tried

OMG!!!! I think I'm about to have one.....yep a heart attack... so just come and get me!! You read it right Sex and the City Part 2!!!! Someone is Hollywood heard our cry, they know our need for more Chanel, Vera Wang, Manolo, Carrie, Big, Dior, and Chloe Elle...OK I wish but it kind of fits well!!! There are so many questions that pop into my mind, what does Pat Field have up her sleeve, what will the plot be, will Carrie and Big have a mini Carrie, and most importantly what in the fabulous world will they be wearing? So many questions that will go answered soon and very soon. As a fashion addict this is like a high you never want to come down from. 2010 oh Fabulous ones!!! They haven't even given a exact release date but I've already started my count down!!! The gang is coming back with fashion fabulous foolishness and I'm fiending for it.....

Grammys 2009 = Fashion Heart Break

Where do I begin or end....The 51st Grammys just aired and what can I say... Fashion wise I was so let down, I'm at my lowest low.. I know we are in a recession but wow!!! Beyonce was no where to be seen, how could she do me like this, Rihanna had some issues, I'm actually hoping it wasn't her, Solange showed up in her sweet sixteen b-day outfit, and even Diddy let me down. My expectations were so high and instead of a fashion heart attack I got heart break. I remember when I was in high school I use to look to the Grammys and the Oscars for prom dress inspiration, I attended three, well I feel sorry for high school girls this time around. Jennifer Hudson did come through the way Chi-town girls do and saved the day in her fabulous Roland Mouret ensemble. I take my Louboutin off to her, my only pair so please return, for her courage and strength, she is definitely fabulous in more ways than one!!! Don't get me wrong some of our favorite starlets and gents looked fabulous but all in all the 51st Grammys was a fashion massacre aka a bad overdose for this fiend!!! Take a look ...it's time to hand out the grades....

On an entertainment note the show was pretty good...Jennifer Hudson killed with her heartfelt performance and the hip hop rat pack had my fabulousness on hundred thousand trillion. At least there was some form of excitement. I guess as fashion fiends we sometimes get let down but it doesn't stop our addiction ...I'm ready and waiting for my next fix... 2009 Fashion Week... need I say more!!!!

Fab From the Past: 2008 Grammys

Fiends!!! I got this idea to take a look back at the 2008 Grammys to refresh my memory, and yours, on what some of our favorite celebs wore on the red carpet in 2008. I'm uber excited to see who will bring it this year and make my heart skip six beats aka a heart attack!!! Hopefully some of our favorite starlets and gents will not make the same mistakes from 08 but will simply continue to bring the pure fabulousness. I live for the fly fashion moments from the Grammys, the Oscars, and hell just everyday life!! That's enough verbiage let's take a look...

-Um I love me some B..but I kind of got

a glam ice skater feel from this look. Not one

of my favorites, but she can do no wrong!!!

-B's baby daddy J definitely had swag last

year. Let's just hope he's just a clean shaved

this year!!

-Hey Ke Ke!! She was simple and chic,

definitely loving her style as of late.

-Ri Ri came with it!! I heart Zac Posen.

- Luda was so dapper it hurt!! Can you

-Solo has a style that sometimes captures

So...that was a taste of last year. Now that I've taken a trip down fashion memory lane, I'm not that impressed! I always have high hopes that Fashion will get better with time though.... I guess we'll see and I will definitely be watching!! They better bring it!!!

OK fellow fiends, this has been eating at me.....I definitely think celebs have overdosed on Herve Leger Bandage dresses and I'm very afraid. From red carpets to parties and even to the mall!!! I mean just when does a trend become so spectacular that even Z-listers wear them everyday? Don't get me wrong I loved, no seriously I love it ,where Max Azria was going with the entire idea, and almost everyone looked fab, but I think a trend is just that...here today and gone tomorrow....but celebs are destined to keep it around . It's obviously their high and they are not coming down. But maybe it's just me???? Do tell...

OMG you came to my blog...Welcome to Fashion Fiend!!!!

OK so where do I begin?!?!? I'm a young fashionista from Chicago living in this crazy city called New York chasing my dreams to become a staple in the fashion industry. So let's cut to the real chase...I'm basically a fiend and fashion is my drug of choice!!! I see fashion as an artistic outlet that allows people to express themselves in whatever way they decide, rather it's a fierce pair of Loubs probably my choice of expression or an African Dashiki. Fashion is deeper to me than just a cute outfit...it's style, it's the influence of the past on the present, it is an energizing force that affects our everyday lives whether you want it too or not, it's all things Fabulous baby and I'm in love!!!!!

I'm the girl who shops any and everywhere and loves mixing old with new, new with vintage and so on. Definitely a fashionista on a budget baby! I personally think my personal style is unpredictable but most would say chic and edgy. I'm a firm believer that in your twenties you should experiment with fashion and it is important to not be confined to one style, you basically have the rest of your life for that. I'm the girl who lives for shoes and accessories, let's face facts...they practically make your look. I definitely don't mind spending a pretty penny on them.. it's all about CPW (cost per wear)!!!! A fab pair of shoes can last you a life time at least we wish they would!!!

Fashion Fiend was developed as an outlet to express myself and allow others like me who live, sleep, and breathe fashion, to have a place they can turn to view the latest trends,receive some great advice, and share this trying journey as I attack this crazy city of New York to follow my fashion dreams. Fashion Fiend is different from other columns I've done because I have the opportunity to share not only my personal addiction to fashion but also my journey.......
